The actors who brought Princess Diana back to life in “The Crown” paid tribute to the late royal’s iconic sense of style ahead of the series finale.

Elizabeth Debicki, 33, and Emma Corrin, 27, joined other cast members of “The Crown” for a finale celebration at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Tuesday. Photographs from the event showed Debicki and Corrin sharing a sweet moment on the red carpet, warmly embracing, chatting closely, and posing for cameras side by side.

Debicki, who portrayed Diana in seasons five and six of the Netflix series, arrived on the red carpet in an ethereal, floor-length Dior gown. As Vogue reported, the dress — styled for Debicki by London-based stylist Elizabeth Saltzman — was covered in micro sequins and mother-of-pearl cuvettes.

Speaking to the publication while she was getting ready for the premiere, Debicki said she’d never worn “anything quite like it.”

“It’s gorgeous,” the Australian actor said before showering Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s creative director since 2016, with praise.

“There’s a delicacy and an intricacy to her designs, but they are incredibly bold and feel empowering to wear,” Debicki added.

Intentional or not, Debicki’s final red-carpet look for a premiere of “The Crown” was reminiscent of not one, but two memorable gowns the former Princess of Wales wore in the 1980s.

The classic silhouette, ornamental features, and color scheme are similar to the Catherine Walker gown Diana wore to the British Fashion Awards at the Royal Albert Hall in 1989. Nicknamed the “Elvis Dress” for the stiff-collared bolero jacket Diana paired it with, the ivory dress glistened from the light reflected off of hundreds of pearls and sequins.

Another famous Diana outfit that might have inspired Debicki’s premiere look is the one-shoulder, silk chiffon dress that she wore to the premiere of the James Bond film “Octopussy” in 1983. The gown, which was embroidered with tiny glass beads and crystals, was created by the Japanese designer Hachi. It was eventually put up for auction by Christie’s and sold for $75,100.

While Debicki was seemingly inspired by the glamorous side of Diana’s style, Corrin — who starred in season four of “The Crown” — put their spin on a bolder look the royal wore during a visit to Florence, Italy, in 1985.

The late Princess of Wales’ formal outfit — a cream Jasper Conran skirt suit — expertly blended masculine and feminine silhouettes.

Corrin, who was styled by Harry Lambert, wore a custom-made Miu Miu ensemble that borrowed several elements of Diana’s outfit, including the cream blazer, shirt, and black bow tie, according to W Magazine.

However, the outfit was also updated with several modern twists. Corrin swapped the loose pencil skirt for one made of sheer fabric, wore patent-leather heels over black knee-length socks, and added delicate black gloves.

As the penultimate installment of “The Crown” ended with Diana’s death and funeral, it’s unlikely that either Corrin or Debicki will reprise their roles in the final episodes of season six.

Part two of season six of “The Crown” is set to air on Netflix on December 14.
