Linda Yaccarino apparently doesn’t have the X app on her home screen.During her appearance at Code Conference, the X CEO flashed her phone to symbolize the company.Instead, she revealed Instagram and Facebook on her home screen.
Elon Musk might run X from his phone; Linda Yaccarino, on the hand, might not.
She doesn’t even appear to have the X app on her iPhone home screen at all. At least that’s what a newly surfaced video of the X CEO’s car-crash interview at Code Conference appears to show.
During a bizarre segment, Yaccarino waved her phone screen to attendees as a way of symbolizing X. Instead, she inadvertently showed that Facebook and Instagram apps were on her home screen, but there was no clear sign of the X app.
The Verge journalist Alex Heath reported on the news, which included a screenshot.

It’s worth noting that the app may be somewhere on her phone, perhaps either buried in a folder or on a second page. But not having X visible while attempting to show off the app — which she recently introduced a new logo for — is clearly a faux pas.
It adds to a string of gaffes made by Yaccarino, a former NBCUniversal advertising executive, who was appointed as X’s CEO in May, in an interview with CNBC’s Julia Boorstin. The interview was a chance to explain her and Musk’s vision for X.
Instead, Yaccarino appeared to be caught off guard by questions about claims made publicly by Musk on the future direction of X. These included suggestions he was considering putting the entirety of X behind a paywall.
Instead of answering the question directly, Yaccarino responded to a question about the paywall idea with another question: “Did he say we were moving towards it specifically or that he was thinking about it?”
“He said that’s the plan,” said Boorstin. “Did he consult you before he announced that?”
“We talk about everything,” Yaccarino replied but did not address the question further.
X did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment outside regular working hours.
